Six years ago I started working on a complex, interactive mapping system called "Esteren Maps" for an RPG editing company called Studio Gate. The challenge was to create a dynamic, location based mapping system - similar to popular mapping systems like Google or Bing.
In this talk I'll cover the challenges of building a system, and how to build your own using Symfony, Doctrine, LeafletJS, and other tools - as well as best practices and hard learnings discovered over the six years of development.
Alex Rock is a trainer and developer at SensioLabs, the company behind the Symfony framework (needless to say, he's also Symfony 3 & 4 certified). He also serves as the tech-lead for the table-top RPGs Studio Agate. Starting off programming at a young age, Alex knows the importance of continuous learning and community, and now tries to pay it forward through his talks, training, and open-source contributions.
